The Ecstasy of Being Alive
My experience with the energy of Self-determination (Human Design Gate 46)
The Sun just moved into Gate 46 — the energy of embodiment, perseverance, and love of the body.
We often forget what a miracle it is to be here — alive, breathing, moving, experiencing life through this fragile, yet powerful human body. Gate 46 reminds us that the body is not just a vehicle; it is the doorway to all our experiences. Without it, there would be no life to taste, no joys to feel, no struggles to overcome.
The wisdom of this energy lies in simple devotion: to ourselves, to our lives, to the work we are doing right now. What looks like “good fortune” or serendipity is often the result of steady perseverance, of choosing to keep going, to keep showing up, to keep saying yes to life.
When we honour and love our bodies, we unlock the ecstasy of embodiment — the joy of being alive, no matter what we are doing. Washing dishes, working late, walking in nature, or laughing with friends — all of it can become sacred when we allow ourselves to enjoy it fully.
But like every energy, this one has a shadow. When we lose sight of the gift, when we take our minds too seriously and disconnect from our bodies, the joy of life can turn into chaos. We may try to numb ourselves with addictions, distractions, or destructive habits, forgetting that life itself is the greatest gift.
During the next 6 days, let this energy remind you: celebrate the fact that you are alive.
You don’t know how long you have here, and that’s the beauty. You don’t need to measure it — you only need to live it.
I know this energy well. I have this gate defined in my design — in my design Mars, which is my temperature, my drive, my transformative fire. I know what it feels like to devote myself fully to something. When I commit, I completely devote myself. It’s the push, the movement, the energy that keeps me going no matter what, because through the experience — through the trying — I feel alive.
I also carry the whole channel defined, the 29–46, known as the Channel of Discovery. It’s both a joy and a curse: the constant pull to try, to test, to experience, to discover for myself. Because only through discovery do I truly know what is good or bad for me.
And through all of this, I have grown to love my body so deeply and honestly. Without this “meat-suit,” I would just be energy floating around — unable to feel, unable to taste, unable to experience the beauty and rawness of life. The emotions, the sensations, the joy, and yes, even the pain — all of it is what makes this LIFE so precious.
At the end, my suggestion is, instead of destroying or numbing yourself, nurture this life with love, awe, and gratitude. Devote yourself to being present in your body. Persevere through the difficulties. And let yourself feel the ecstasy of simply being alive.
