Being Okay With Being Yourself
Gate 10 - The Behaviour of the Self
The Sun entered into the Gate 10, the Gate of the Behaviour of the Self.
Human Design often spokes about as the Gate of self-love, but not in the fluffy, affirmations-on-the-mirror sense. This is a deeper kind of self-love, the one that shows up in how we move, how we respond, how we behave when no one is watching.
I don’t have Gate 10 defined in my chart. but I do have the Gate 34, the Gate of pure Sacral power, defined in my Personality Mercury. Power in action. Power in communication. Power that wants to move, respond, do something now. And when these two gates come together in a transit, they form the Channel of Exploration (10–34). And that’s what makes this upcoming energy interesting for me. Because the Gate 10 is not about doing more. It’s about how you do what you do.
This gate carries an awareness of behaviour, what feels natural, what feels forced, what is truly “me” and what is just learned, copied, or performed to fit in. It’s deeply connected to authenticity, but again, not as an idea. This is truly lived, bodily experience.
And here is where it meets Gate 34 in a fascinating way. As the Gate 34 brings raw life force, which doesn’t ask for permission. It responds and moves. But power without self-awareness can easily become rushing, pushing, or acting from habit rather than truth.
Gate 10 brings a different question into the field: “Is this action aligned with who I am right now?”
It is not morality, the right or wrong, not socially acceptable or unacceptable.
But natural, being me, my true me, without the filters.
This energy can show us moments where we notice ourselves acting out of pressure rather than alignment. Saying yes when the body says no. Moving fast because we think we should. Communicating powerfully, but not necessarily lovingly, or toward ourselves.
Gate 10 doesn’t ask us to change our behaviour. It asks us to observe it.
And that observation alone can change everything.
During this transit, you might notice profound things about yourself.
For example:
The way you walk into a room.
The style you respond to being challenged.
How you treat your body when you’re tired.
How you speak when you feel powerful and when you don’t feel powerful.
For me, this feels like an invitation to let my Sacral Power move without needing to prove anything. To let action come from self-respect rather than urgency. To trust that power doesn’t need to perform to be valid.
Gate 10 teaches that self-love is not a thought. It’s a behaviour.
And maybe this is what this transit offers all of us: it offers a chance to notice where our actions come from: conditioning or authenticity, and to gently, patiently allow a more natural way of being to emerge.
No fixing. No forcing. Just awareness… and movement that follows truth instead of habit.
